A Simple Plan to Solve Illegal Immigration

Step One

Completely stop illegal border crossings for thirty days.

Step Two

Have all people residing here illegally identify themselves within this period.

Step Three

Decide who stays and who goes.

Step Four

Create a legal means for foreign workers.

Step Five

Stop employers from hiring illegals.

Step One.

An unannounced sealing of the borders will stop a flood of new illegals during the thirty days of identification. We would have to use all available assets, including our military. During this period, start an information blitz to countries where illegals commonly come from. This is to discourage them from coming and to promote a soon to come legal worker process.

Step Two.

Require all illegals to register at any post office within the thirty day period. This would be a simple process that would identify all illegals. They would need a copy of any ID they have, verifiable address, phone number, and photo. Unregistered illegals found by any law enforcement agency after the registration period would be subject to immediate deportation. Illegals that register would be allowed to remain until their status is determined.

Step Three.

This is the hardest part. Our government has failed us on this issue over a long period. We as residents are at fault by our indifference, acceptance and condoning illegal immigration. With the number of illegals, it will take years to determine their status. We have to take the time and do it the right way. Complete background checks, criminal records, and whatever else we can think of. Americans are very much for immigration and guest workers.

Step Four.

When step three is completed, or sooner if possible, setup a process at each applicable embassy, for a guest worker process. Advertise the system on radio, TV and printed material in the countries that most of the workers come from. Procedures, time limits, dependents, gaining citizenship, the whole ball of wax. This would be immigration reform.

Step Five.

Accountability for employers. Serious fines. Make it cheaper for them to hire from the legal guest worker pool.
